Ian Donaldson
“Sometimes my H2O days feel like yesterday,” reveals Ian Donaldson, who became a teenage heartthrob when Glasgow band H2O stormed the charts in 1983 with their single I Dream To Sleep.
In the 33 years since H2O broke up, Ian’s been a vocal coach, run a recording studio, worked as a club and radio DJ and written a novel which was nominated for the Saltire Society’s First Book Prize.
“And now I’ve returned to the pop world,” says Ian, who recently released a new solo album, From Stars We Came. “I think so many of Scotland’s 80s pop bands are making a comeback because our songs were particularly good, with great melodies and unusual arrangements,” he continues.
“And there’s also an element of nostalgia. It’s wonderful to be able to turn back the clock – even just for an evening. When I’m on stage, it’s as though I’ve never been away.”
