Get #Outthere

-

LEADING walking charity Ramblers Scotland is marking the 15th anniversary of the Land Reform Act with a campaign to encourage more people to walk.

The “Out There” initiative will drive forward the development of more paths, especially surrounding urban areas, and the mapping of these routes.

Independent research commissioned by the charity found that only half of Scots understand where they are legally allowed to walk.

The survey also discovered 75 per cent of people would enjoy the outdoors if there were more paths on the ground and marked on maps.

The aim is to showcase Scotland’s beautiful landscapes and to inspire more people to get #Outthere.

Jess Dolan, director of Ramblers Scotland, said, “It’s 15 years since the passing of the Land Reform Act and there is so much to celebrate.

“Scotland is firmly at the top of the outdoor access charts and recreational walking is booming, up 13 per cent in six years.

“But we are not stopping here – 15 years from now we want even more people to benefit from our world-class access rights and landscapes, which is why we’ve launched the Out There campaign.”
