Chocolate Archaeology

The Scots Magazine - - Focus On… Orkney -

From its base in Kirkwall, this company produces chocolates that celebrate three chapters of Orkney’s rich history, Pictish, Viking and Neolithic. The chocolates are based on the designs of some of the artefacts from these eras that have been found on the islands. In a way, you’re taking a piece of Orkney’s history away with you – and a very delicious one at that. The company is a family business run by Christopher and Raggie. Christopher, an archaeologist, recreates replicas of artwork in stone which are then used by Raggie as a mould for her chocolates. Each box sold contains information on what they were modelled on. www.brodgar.co.uk
