Window Of St Francis
“This window, depicting St Francis of Assisi surrounded by birds and animals, reminds us how the chapel has evolved over the generations,” continues Ian. “It is believed to have been originally unglazed and most of the stained glass is Victorian. This window was completed in 1970 and designed by Carrick Whalen. It is dedicated to the Earl of Rosslyn’s grandmother and also serves as a reminder that the chapel was built as a family chapel for the St Clair family. Still family owned, the chapel is now managed by a trust, which depends on income from visitors to conserve it for future generations to appreciate.”
