Giant Lanterns Of China
Edinburgh Zoo, November 17– February 17 (Friday to Sunday; extra dates over the festive period)
After a successful run of 50 nights last year, Edinburgh Zoo will open its doors after-hours once again this winter for a Chinese festival with a Scottish twist. Last year more than 450 giant lanterns were installed around the zoo, accompanied by performances, food and drink stalls and a night market. The event stems from a partnership between the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and Sichuan, the birthplace of Tian Tian and Yang Guang, Scotland’s giant pandas. It’s a great event for all ages. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t see any of the zoo’s regular inhabitants, who will be tucked up safely away from the action. Tickets: www.edinburghzoo.org.uk
