Illuminator Night Trail Race

-

October 27, Glen Tanar, Aberdeenshire

Not for the faint-hearted, this 24km (15-mile) trail route in the Cairngorms takes place in complete darkness, save for your head torch and the spectacular light zone – an illuminated installation lighting up Glen Tanar’s ancient Scots pine forest, halfway along the hilly circular route. Walkers and slower runners are welcome – everyone starts at Aboyne at 6.30pm, with an average finishing time of 3.5 hours for runners and six for walkers. The event goes ahead whatever the weather, and compulsory gear includes waterproofs and a head torch. The organisers also support good causes, with Braemar Mountain Rescue this year’s nominated charity partner. Over-18s only. Entry and information: www.illuminatorrun.co.uk
