There’s plenty to amuse younger readers at this year’s festival, including an author event from multi-award winning children’s writer Barry Hutchison at the local high school and a visit from the lovable character Bookbug on Saturday afternoon.

One of the most exciting events of the weekend will be held by acclaimed Scottish illustrator Kate Leiper, whose beautiful drawings adorn the covers and pages of many children’s books. The artist, who is responsible for illustrating the work of James Robertson and Theresa Breslin, will join the crowds in Mallaig to discuss the inspiration behind her spectacular work. 
