What started off as an intolerance to peanut butter has led to an award-winning and burgeoning business for Susan Yule. She originally worked from home in Aberdeen but has moved to a commercial kitchen in Crathes. Her range of eight nut butters – which include exotic flavours like chai spiced almond and hazelnut and cacao – can be eaten with fruit, porridge, pancakes or in smoothies. The possibilities are endless. “Nut butters are a great source of protein and fibre,” she says. “They are naturally gluten-free and dairy-free and suitable for vegans.” Susan won the Healthy Choice Award at this year’s Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards. www.feedthesquirrel.co.uk
