The Newest Full House Finisher

-

On September 15, 53-year-old Anne Butler became the 53rd Full House finisher when she stood on the summit of the 652m (2139ft) Graham, Fiarach in Stirlingshire.

Surrounded by 56 people, three of whom were also Full House finishers, the retired nurse described the event as “very memorable and also very rewarding”.

Anne began her summit bagging career in 1998 with her first Munro, Ben Lomond. It took seven years to finish her first round while living in Devon. She completed four more Munro rounds over nine years but grew bored.

Anne, who now lives in Aviemore, says, “I got a bit fed up of repeating the same routes on the Munros and I fancied a change of direction.

“Part of the fun for me is planning trips and visiting new areas.

“The Full House allowed me to pick from a wider variety of lists and also more geographically spread. Climbing different hills reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the hills.”

Anne finished a Corbetts round in July 2010, the Munro Tops in July 2017 and the Furths and the Donalds in September 2017. She is always accompanied by a dog, first Molly, the first dog to complete a Corbett round who passed away in 2016, and now two-year-old Ralph.

Her most enjoyable round was the Corbetts. “They got me exploring new areas and Molly and l secured our bond on them.”

The Grahams round was Anne’s most challenging, 
