Coal Tits

-

When I was sent away to school to Dunkeld from our home in Ardnamurchan, I was always homesick but solace came as I made hides in the woods during playtime and watched fallow deer, red squirrels and numerous woodland birds. One of the first birds I hand fed was the enchanting coal tit. Less dominant than either the blue tit or great tit, it is also more acrobatic, hanging in a precarious position from high boughs to feed on cones and seeds. Coal tits have expanded their range and are now seen frequently in gardens.
