Coastal Memories

-

What memories your article in last year’s May issue evoked, outlining “the lovely spots en route to take a break” between Edinburgh and the Borders, especially the double-page spread of the beach at Dunbar. Many a time I spent at that spot in the 1940s which is only a few yards from the grammar school which my brother, Hugh, and I attended. The winter months would sometimes bring a bonanza of flotsam, varying from a cargo of wooden poles to a magnetic mine bristling with spikes, a relic of the Second World War.
