Road To Ruin?

-

Last year, I cycled from Strathcarron and followed the North Coast 500 route as far as Kylesku. There is no doubt that this is a magnificent route and has brought much trade to those living in this beautiful area. However, are some of the roads capable of surviving the mass and type of traffic using them? I read a leaflet at Torridon Youth Hostel recommending who should and should not use the single track roads and why, but observed that the message was not getting through to some of our visitors. Fortunately, the beauty of this area has changed very little over the years and as a cyclist you can frequently stop and admire it – something a motorist might find somewhat difficult.
