Dundee Contemporary Arts – or the DCA as it is better known – is the heart of the city’s lively artistic scene
WHETHER you are a budding artist, a creative connoisseur or an artistic amateur, a visit to the DCA is a must. Since opening their doors in 1999, the organisation has become an internationally renowned centre for art, celebrating everything from film to fine art to dance.
Jessica Reid, head of external relations at the DCA, gives a taste of everything that they have on offer.

The cinema is one of the DCA’S main draws, often showcasing films you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere alongside the crowd-pleasing blockbusters.
Their gallery spaces are always bursting with creativity, showcasing the very best of Scottish contemporary artists as well as exhibitions from across the globe.
The DCA is the perfect place for a creative and fulfilling family day out. It doesn’t matter if you are a complete artistic novice, you will soon be absorbed in the DCA’S atmosphere of creativity and inspiration.
Their Create Space is open to everyone, no matter your age or ability, and is designed as a completely open area to get stuck in to something creative. With lots of art supplies and inspiration on hand, you can create whatever your heart desires. There are lots of ready-made activities to engage younger artists as well.
If you are looking for something more structured then check out their packed schedule of expert-led workshops and classes, covering a range of disciplines and levels of expertise. There are plenty of classes aimed at kids as well, so if you fancy trying something a bit more technical, younger visitors will be kept busy too!
