Use the best local produce to become a master chef with Home Cook School

IF you’re looking to improve your culinary skills, then Home Cook School offers the perfect way to do so in Maybole, Ayrshire. Since opening doors in 2016, Home Cook School has become popular with folk of all cooking abilities, offering classes for all ages at their Maybole HQ. And they are opening a brand new premises this year in the beautiful village of Kirkoswald.

Private home lessons are also available from founder Lindsay Guidi. “We love spending time with our clients during lessons and sharing lots of practical cooking tips,” she says. “We pitch the lessons at our client’s level, whether they are a novice or total foodie!

“Our customers feel a sense of achievemen­t and their confidence grows when they master a new dish and knowledge that goes with it,” says Lindsay.

Also on offer is a Scottish-themed cookery day, where aspiring chefs learn to make Cullen skink, chicken Balmoral and cranachan. This includes a trip to a local Ayrshire farm shop to choose ingredient­s at the beginning of the day.

Home Cook School is dedicated to the great produce to be found around Ayrshire. “We’re a member of the Ayrshire Food Network and hold the Certificat­ion Mark from the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, meaning we use and promote local food from sustainabl­e suppliers.” With Home Cook School continuing to expand, whether you’re a beginner or fancy yourself the next Gordon Ramsay, it’s a great way to learn how to use the best in Ayrshire ingredient­s.
