re- GLasGOW’s growing “media city” development on the Clyde has attracted the producer of top television shows the XFactor and Britain’s Gottalent.

thames, part of FremantleMedia UK, has taken a 1,335sq ft unit in the Hub on a five-year lease through property consultancy CBrE.

it follows expansion by exist- ing tenants Editworks and raise the roof Productions, associated with television shows Location Location Location and Kirstie’s HandmadeBritain.

suzy Lamb, head of entertainment at thames, said: “When choosing a new office for our expanding thames scotland business, the Hub was a clear choice for us given its strong reputation for attracting creative and innovative companies. the fact that both the BBC and stV are on its doorstep adds further to the feeling of a mini media city down here at Pacific Quay.”

thames, which is also behind take Me Out and all star Family Fortunes, will use the Hub to produce shows such as the Channel 4 quiz 1001 things You should Know, hosted by sandi toksvig, and a new lottery quiz show hosted by nick Knowles called Break the safe for BBC One. Glasgow City Council has acquired two units on the ground floor on a threeyear lease for the Creative Clyde Business incubation Centre. digital Enterprise Glasgow, a project developed by Glasgow Council, will run the incubator to accelerate the growth of digital and creative startups through the provision of rent free office space and a mix of intensive business support. inCrEasEd traffic due to the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics helped Channel tunnel company Eurotunnel to more than triple profits last year.

the company’s net profit rose from €11 million (£9.4m) in 2011 to €34m in 2012, it was revealed yesterday. almost 20 million passengers and 20 million tonnes of goods used the Channel tunnel last year,

also boosted by the “Jubilym- pics”, the tunnel’s high-speed train operator, Eurostar, increased passenger numbers by 2 per cent to more than 9.9 million in 2012.

Eurotunnel said: “activity remains positive, but as 2012 benefited from some exceptional events, traffic is unlikely to see a repeat of 2012’s strong growth, even with the British public taking more and more short breaks on the Continent via Le shuttle.”
