The developmen­t is within a couple PERTH-based housebuild­er Stephen is unveiling its brand new IKEA show apartment at Balgarvie Mill, in Scone, the first time that the Swedish furniture giant has designed a show-home in the area.

As well as being decorated and fully furnished by IKEA, the ground floor, two-bedroom apartment features everything from the store: rugs, lamps, vases and bedding, to photo frames, mirrors, bins, wall art and dinnerware, down to the finer details of a chopping board, cutlery, tea towels, mugs, ironing board, towels and even a rolling pin.

Working to a clean and simple palette of white against a backdrop of primary colours, it is a fresh young look for the apartment and illustrate­s what can of minutes’ walking distance from Haymarket Station where regular trains go into the city for commuting or shopping, although Princes Street is also within walking distance.

Trains from Haymarket are direct to Glasgow on a quarter hourly basis, and to most other Scottish cities. It is on the main line to london with travel times of around four and a half hours, so for the commuter who has to travel further afield, these homes are ideal. Edinburgh be done, even by a first time buyer with no furniture of their own.

Furthermor­e, with the new Help to Buy (Scotland) initiative that is available here, buyers could secure the £159,950 apartment with as little as a 5 per cent deposit (£7,997). The Scottish Government funds up to 20 per cent of the purchase price with the buyer contributi­ng only 75 per cent i.e. a £120,000 mortgage.
