Liverpool looking good at 12-1 for title

-

THE English Premiership gets under way and, unlike any other main European league, five clubs have realistic claims for the title.

Surprisingly, Liverpool are the least fancied of the quintet, the bookies obviously of the opinion that Luiz Suarez carried the team last season.

Brendan Rodgers has wasted no time in spending the huge fee paid by Barcelona, strengthening in areas that let them down in the last few games.

Liverpool can again be a huge threat to the four clubs above them in the betting market. To put it in perspective, the Anfield men finished above Chelsea last season who are 15/8 favourites, so it’s clear where the value lies.

Recommended bet: Liverpool

THE

12-1 general.

At the other end, it could be a long season for West Brom who appointed unproven top-level manager Alan Irvine. The Scot seems up against it with the fans already and the Baggies look a good bet for the drop at 3-1 at Bet 365

I make it between Robert van Persie, 6-1, and Daniel Sturridge, 15-2, for the Golden Boot, with Swansea’s Wilfred Bony a lively outsider at 28-1.

In the opening fixtures, feel that Stoke are in better shape than Paul Lambert’s Aston Villa and should be backed at evens with Hills. Spurs can heap the pressure on Sam Allardyce by getting maximum points at Upton Park, 11-10 general.

Without Tony Pulis, Crystal Palace could be in for a long day at the Emirates, back the Gunners -2 at 7/4 in the handicap markets.

The best bet of the day could be Bournemouth, who should have too much for newly-promoted Brentford.

Banker: Bournemouth general.

I4-5
