Man charged with killing goalkeeper

A MAN has appeared in court on a murder charge over the death of South African football captain Senzo Meyiwa.

Goalkeeper Meyiwa, who also played for Soweto’s Orlando Pirates, was shot dead on Sunday night in an apparent house robbery.

Nathi Mncube, a spokesman for the National Prosecuting Authority, said the suspect also faced a charge of armed robbery.
