AS THE SUPPORTERS SEE IT

NOT a great week, as we went down narrowly to Celtic then lost to St Johnstone, though we were well beaten in both games.
But we are still sixth, and no-one below us can do anything about that now, even if we have two fewer points than Hamilton in seventh. But one London-based quality newspaper which prides itself on a Scottish presence (no more clues needed) couldn’t quite grasp that on Saturday morning, and bumped us down to seventh in the table...
We play Celtic again this Friday evening, away this time, and look to have not much of a chance, but we played well there last time, only to go down 2-1, and we just might have almost a full squad if the recovering Harkins and Irvine make it.
Celtic don’t need to bust a gut now. Surely they’ll be happy with a point?

A confession is required. I didn’t go to Tannadice on Sunday. The Josh Meekings affair so angered and sickened me that I couldn’t bring myself to go to the game.
However, the idea that games could now be retrospectively refereed because one team cannot accept defeat made me wonder if it was worth expending any more money and more importantly any more emotion on a game of football. The playground bully continues to exert an unsporting influence over Scottish football’s administrators and clearly their compliance officer. From my armchair view, the better team won. But, again, potentially game-changing decisions revolving around Brown’s tackle on Rankin could be seen in the context of the furore if Celtic’s captain was sent off. Maybe by this weekend I will have calmed down!
