Eight killed in Baghdad blasts
OFFICIALS said bombings in and around the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, have killed at least eight people.
Police said the worst of yesterday’s attacks took place in Baghdad’s western neighbourhood of Amiriyah, where a bomb exploded in a commercial area, killing three civilians and wounding 12.
Another bomb struck a convoy of Shiite militiamen in the capital’s northern Shula region, killing two fighters and wounding four. Shiite militias have become influential in the fight against Islamic State militants.
Medical officials confirmed casualty figures.
