Dr Fox will face trial in November on nine sex charges against six ‘victims’
DJ Neil Fox will stand trial on sex charges on 5 November, a court has ruled.
He denies nine offences against six complainants, spanning more than two decades.
Fox, known as Dr Fox, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday where Senior District Judge Howard Riddle fixed a trial date, and heard that the case could last two weeks.
He said there should be further preliminary hearings in July and October, and renewed Fox’s unconditional bail.
At a hearing last month, the court was told that Fox allegedly forced himself on a girl as young as 13, and attacked a teenager at a popular theme park.
The allegations state that the 53-year-old forcefully kissed three girls under 16, allegedly grabbing hold of one at Chessington World of Adventures.
Details of what the Magic FM presenter is alleged to have done were able to be reported after his barrister, Jonathan Caplan QC, asked for restrictions to be lifted because “there has been a considerable amount of reporting in social media of what these charges amount to”.
That had led to the creation of prejudice against his client, said Mr Caplan.
One of the complainants alleges that Fox repeatedly assaulted her at Capital Radio’s studios in London’s Leicester Square.
Two other women claim to have been sexually touched against their will by the radio presenter at Magic FM’S premises in central London between 2003 and 2014.
