THE FUTURE’S BRIGHT

Iconic US challenge the Color Run makes its Scottish debut when the event arrives at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena on 21 June. Dubbed the Happiest 5k on the Planet, this run is not timed, so participants can walk, jog, dance or conga their way along the course at any pace, with each of them starting off in a white T-shirt and being doused in powder colour explosions at every kilometre.

HE’S BACKING BACON

Men might be more inclined to diet if they had a copy of Eat Bacon, Don’t Jog, by 60-year-old Us-based author Grant Peterson, who is a big advocate of eating red meat, butter and cream. Broken up into 106 single page tips on exercise and diet, it features advice including Eight Foods to Avoid at All Costs (according to him, potatoes, sugars, grains, fruit juice, sports drinks and energy bars, corn, white rice and hydrogenated oils). £9.99, Workman

GET JUICED

Ditch the cola and visit Glasgow’s Juice Garden; there’s a branch at 23 Renfield Street (0141-221 3876) and a new one at 223 Byres Road (0141-339 6275). Alongside a healthy menu of organic rye bread sandwiches and raw desserts, their focus is cold pressed juice, with recipes including the Botanical Boost (cucumber, celery, ginger, apple, mint and moringa), £3.85. www.juicegarden.org
