Capaldi teases Time Lord’s fans with sneak glimpses of new Dr Who series

SCOTS actor Peter Capaldi has revealed to fans that villages of Vikings and a city of Daleks await him in the new series of Doctor Who.

The cast of the long-running science fiction show lifted the lid on some of the Time Lord’s new adventures at a special session at Comic-con in the United States.

Capaldi, who plays the Doctor, and his co-star Jenna Coleman were in the US with Michelle Gomez, who plays Missy, where they unveiled a new trailer for the show.

He said: “Soaring through all of time and space, series nine sees the Doctor throw himself into life with a new hunger for adventure.

“The Cosmos is there for the taking, thrilling, epic and enticing, and his to play in.

“But he’s almost reckless in his abandon. It’s almost like he’s running from something, something that if it ever catches him will turn his life upside down.”

The trailer ended with the appearance of Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the blood-thirsty fantasy drama.

Other already confirmed guest stars include Rebecca Front, Rufus Hound and Paul Kaye.

Capaldi’s depiction of an older, darker Doctor has been widely celebrated since he appeared in the 50th anniversary episode of the beloved series.

However, despite this the Scottish actor has failed to make the shortlist for top drama performance at this year’s National Television Awards (NTA).
