#Omarsharif OMAR Sharif, the Oscarnomin­ated actor best known for roles in Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, has died aged 83. He suffered a heart attack in Cairo. Twitter users paid tribute to his films – and his bridge playing.

#BBCQT On Thursday night, SNP MP Tommy Sheppard and former Labour leadership candidate Chuka Umunna appeared on the last Question Time before the programme’s summer break. Viewers, using the #BBCQT hashtag, gave their verdict on the BBC’S latest episode of political theatre.

#TITP T in the Park officially opened at its new site in Strathalla­n yesterday, though the festival traditiona­lly opens the Slam Tent, its famous dance arena, a day early. On Thursday, footage emerged of the huge arena filling up with revellers.
