#Daviscup” #Richarddawkins Richard Dawkins was fiercely criticised on Twitter after suggesting a 14-year-old boy arrested for building a clock and taking it to school had committed fraud by referring to it as an “invention”, saying: “Disassembling & reassembling is great. But you shouldn’t then claim it was your ‘invention’.” @Geekylyndsay best parodied Dawkins’ response, writing: “The bride holds her vows, shaking. “Our love will last forever. It is eternal.” Richard Dawkins storms out. There is NO basis for this claim.”

@Popehat posted: “Sad to see a great scientist like Richard Dawkins berating a boy for technological curiosity and skill. But fanaticism does that to a man.”

@Richarddawkins later apologised and admitted he had been wrong, saying: “I’m not putting down the child. I’m putting down myself & the rest of us for being fooled. And the police for arresting him for nothing.”

#Jackiecollins Jackie Collins, the bestselling novelist, died yesterday aged 77. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

@Joancollinsdbe posted: “Farewell to my beautiful brave baby sister. I will love you and miss you forever. Rest in peace.”
