Pensioner found dead after crews called to fire

-

A pensioner was found dead in her flat after a fire broke out in her home.

Emergency crews were called out to the home of the 80-year-old woman after a smoke alarm went off at the property in Aberdeen.

They arrived at the Mileend Avenue address to find a small fire in the kitchen along with the body of the woman.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the woman wasn’t believed to have died as a result of the smoke or fire.

He said: “It was natural causes as far as we know.

“It wasn’t the fire itself.”
