Byrne scorches to home triumph

MOTOR CYCLING: Shane Byrne won the MCE British Superbike Championship at his home track Brands Hatch yesterday, creating a new record by clinching the title for the fifth time.

Despite finishing sixth in race two, that was just one place behind his nearest rival, Leon Haslam, which was enough to clinch the victory.
