Boycott Indyref2

-

Surely the most rational response to any referendum on leaving the UK held in the near future is a mass, organised boycott?

If we materially cooperate with this referendum we are giving the SNP a licence to destabilise the country at any opportunity for the most trivial of pretexts. We are giving them permission to hold a gun to our heads in perpetuity, driving out jobs and investment. We had the referendum on membership of the Union, and were told it was a once in a generation event. When we held it, the possibility of the UK leaving the EU was very real. We still voted to remain.

The hardworking people of Scotland, having invested time and resources keeping us in the UK against the resources of the state, shouldn’t be forced to campaign time and again like hamsters on a treadmill, dancing to the SNP’S tune every couple of years. We’ve been through enough uncertainty and upheaval as it is. We need a mass boycott of this referendum. It cannot be given democratic legitimacy that it doesn’t deserve. And if the SNP want to hold it, they can do it with their own money and in their own time, they can hire private venues for voting, but they cannot squander the resources the people of this country need for healthcare, education and other needs in desperately pursuing an ideological goal.

One Indyref is enough in my lifetime : any new ballot paper will go straight “Indybin”.
