Ban for man with ‘astronomical’ drink-drive score

A man caught driving in Dundee city centre with an “astronomical” breath alcohol reading has been banned from the road for three years.

A court heard Mark Smith was nearly six times the drink-drive limit when he was stopped beside the Overgate Shopping Centre in October.

His solicitor said the 32-year-old had “no recollection” of driving the vehicle. Smith, of Dundee, was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

Dundee Sheriff Court was told it was Smith’s second conviction for drinkdriving.
