Not so liberal
I have to agree with John Cameron (Letters, 24 November) about the liberal reaction to the election of Donald Trump in the US, and to the Brexit victory here in the UK, ie this reaction leaves much to be desired.
Liberals (in a non party sense) are supposed to believe in tolerance; throw in their sense of moral superiority – no political side has a monopoly on wisdom – and their political correctness and you have a heady brew, which annoys many! Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” speech was revealing, showing that, in fact, tolerance is in short supply, and that they are only democrats (not in a party sense ) when they win.
