Boost for Townsend as Warriors welcome back forward trio for ‘huge challenge’ against Ospreys

- By GARETH BLACK

Glasgow have Chris Fusaro, Josh Strauss and Ryan Grant back from injury for their Guinness Pro12 clash with Ospreys.

Openside flanker Fusaro will start at Scotstoun tonight in his first appearance since April, after overcoming knee problems.

Prop Grant is back in the squad for the first time since the opening day of the season following a back injury and will start on the bench.

Strauss has been released from the Scotland camp after failing to make an appearance in the autumn Tests because of a calf problem. The No 8 will captain the side and is joined by fellow Scotland caps Tim Swinson and Gordon Reid.

Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said: “Welcoming Chris Fusaro and Ryan Grant back after injury is a real boost. They have both worked very hard to get back to full fitness and their inclusion will lift the side for what is going to be a huge challenge against Ospreys.”

D’arcy Rae and Grayson Hart make their first starts of the season while Stirling County prop Adam Nicol is looking to make his Pro12 debut off the bench. BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy players George Horne and Patrick Kelly could also make their debuts while Junior Bulumakau has been called up from Glasgow Hawks as a replacement. ● Yesterday’s Scottish Schools under-18 semifinal between Merchiston Castle School and Stewart’s-melville College was called off after the pitch at the Colinton school was ruled unplayable following an overnight frost. The game will now go ahead tomorrow with a 2pm kickoff. The winner will meet Dollar academy in the final at Murrayfield on 7 December. Also called off was the under-16 Cup semi-final between Merchiston and St Aloysius College.
