Dundee Haunted by Wilkie’s knee

- Gary Cocker

Dundee’s top-six challenge looks likely to falter; unless we pull an impressive performance out of the hat against Aberdeen or Hearts, games against fellow strugglers County and Hamilton could come too late to catch Thistle.

Following the upheaval this season, I’m not too disappointed to miss out but, given how tight the bottom six is, I can’t help but feel some dread. Our situation hasn’t been helped by injuries in key areas. Kostadin Gadzhalov is out, leaving us with two fit senior centre-halves, and Marcus Haber is also struggling with an injury. At this point of the season, all teams are hit with a few casualties (poor Motherwell are missing half a squad), but the spectre of Lee Wilkie’s knee in 2005 haunts Dundee fans. Could this be the start of another slide to the second tier?
