The frequency of international breaks is a nuisance in many supporters’ minds. It was interesting to listen to Tommy Wright describing how he planned some down time for the players (the internationalists) during such breaks.

I met captain Ando at Mcdiarmid on Thursday – there because he was injured. I jested with him that being injured must seem like a punishment to him and other injured first-team members when team-mates were enjoying some time off.

Tommy had a go at Zander Clark’s lack of international recognition after his performances this season, suggesting it was down to the club he played for. Provincial team fans can list lots of players who only got caps after they left.
