Labour has closed the gap on the Conservatives following the publication of party manifestos for the general election, according to a series of opinion polls. @1henryw tweeted: “Labour have ‘closed the gap’ according to the latest polls. My prediction is they will take a huge battering worse then any poll has predicted.” @Bigedbanthorp said: “Labour supporters getting excited because the polls have got a bit closer shows just what a mess the party was/is in underneath.” @Panchotaffy pointed out: “So Labour are +7, but only 6 points closer to Cons. So Cons are +1? Labour gaining in polls, but not at Cons expense.” While @blackalicious61 wrote: “The polls... as much as they are to be believed are shifting. Labour can do this. Scotland should vote tactically to halt Tories.”
#GETTOGETHER
Candidates from across the political divide called an hour-long campaigning truce in Edinburgh in memory of the murdered MP Jo Cox. @Alex_hay wrote: “Huge respect for all who paused today to remember brave Jo Cox & all that she stood for. Whatever our differences, we’ve far #Moreincommon.” Labour candidate @ angelaeagle tweeted: “Democracy is far too precious to be lost to extremism – Jo Cox will always be remembered #Moreincommon.” @Nickcrosby posted: “How impressive, uplifting and noble is Brendan Cox and his call to bring us together in memory of Jo Cox. May her memory unite & inspire us.” @rachelcurley73 said: “Very proud to be part of this inaugural programme, particularly this week, as we remember Jo Cox and her legacy #moreincommon #lovelikejo.”
#INVINCIBLES
Leigh Griffiths and Stuart Armstrong were on target in a 2-0 victory against Hearts as Celtic completed the Ladbrokes Premiership season as unbeaten champions, the first time they’ve done so since 1898. @bigbaz74 posted: “What a season. What a team. A privilege to watch @celticfc this season #Invincibles.” @Mcculloch1892 said: “#invincibles great day, breaking records all season long! Great display and atmosphere for current team and the Lisbon Lions.”
