Scots rugby player adopts rescue dog

An international rugby player has become “kindred spirits” with a rescue dog after giving it a new home.

Glasgow Warriors captain and Scotland lock Jonny Gray fell in love with sixmonth-old bulldog Astra after learning she had become a resident of Dogs Trust Glasgow.

Astra was left with the charity after her previous owners could no longer afford to keep her.

Gray said: “It kind of felt like we were kindred spirits as we both need to keep up our training, so we can go for plenty of runs together in the park.”
