Adams unveils world’s first ‘contactless’ car

- By ADRIAN HEARN

The world’s first “contactless” car was unveiled yesterday with the hope of raising thousands of pounds to fight cancer.

Double-olympic champion Nicola Adams climbed into a specially-prepared boxing ring at Kings Cross Station in London to show off the unique Hyundai Ioniq.

The car has been fitted with special sensors and computers which unlock the vehicle when it is tapped by a debit card or contactless device.

Professional boxer Adams, 34, said: “It’s hugely important that we keep raising aware- ness of cancer. One in two people born after 1960 in the UK will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime, which means it affects all of us. That’s why we’re in the ring today.”
