main by wimpish men. I must admit to a sneaking admiration for Nicola and Irene, although I don’t subscribe to the former’s political leanings, nor would I wish to share my life with the Melanie Klein devotee. Roll on Volume 13!

JOHN R MURDOCH Aldour Gardens, Pitlochry Amidst all the election excitement Scotland’s college lecturers have agreed a settlement with Colleges Scotland, and it is now up to employers to implement the March 2016 pay agreement.

The settlement will see an average of 9 per cent pay rises over the next two years, and a whopping 66 days holiday a year.

The forthcoming Audit Scotland Further Education report will highlight the dire financial plight of our colleges – who will have to bear the cost of this settlement.

Presumably the Scottish Government have budgeted for this generous settlement, particularly as they were keen to be seen to be intervening? I suspect that this story will have a sting in the tail when the reality of having to pay for this settlement takes over.
