Chemicals merger is in the pipeline

American chemicals company Huntsman is embarking on a $20 billion (£15.3bn) merger with Swiss peer Clariant.

The all-stock merger is expected to be completed by year-end, giving Clariant shareholders 52 per cent of the merged company’s shares, while Huntsman shareholders will hold 48 per cent.
