Feeling invincible?/tierney admits Celtic’s historic feat still to sink in

-

Becoming an Invincible has still to sink in for Kieran Tierney – almost 48 hours after Celtic beat Hearts to become the first Scottish team since 1899 to go through the entire league campaign unbeaten.

The Hoops also eclipsed three previous records, winning 34 of their 38 Scottish Premiership fixtures, scoring 106 goals and amassing 106 points.

“I enjoyed it so much and you could see the passion of the fans,” Tierney told Celtic’s official website. “It was a special day for everybody at the club, not just the manager and the players, but all the fans deserve the good times as well.

“It was a special day for me and you could see how delighted I was in all the pictures and the videos. It means so much to me. I don’t think any of what I have achieved has sunk in yet, maybe in the summer when I have a week off.

“People see we have coped really well as we have gone and done it, obviously. Only on the outside you would hear people speak about it and you would get asked about it, but, in the changing room and with the manager, there wasn’t any real talk about it.

“It’s been amazing so far. Right from day one, what we have done as a team, and how far we have come together, the bond is special and the fans can see that on the pitch. We enjoy going to training every day and we enjoy playing games, and that’s the way it should be.” Only Aberdeen stand between Celtic going through the entire domestic season without defeat in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final at Hampden as Rodgers’ side target a historic treble.

Tierney is expecting a tough test from the league runnersup, who ended their league campaign with two thumping wins.

“It’s been a special season so far and obviously if we got that on Saturday, it would round it up to being perfect,” said the teenager. “We are looking forward to the challenge, as Aberdeen are a great team who always put up a good fight against us. We have won the games against them so far this season and, hopefully, we can do that again on Saturday.”
