United release Dillon after ten years at Tannadice
Dundee United have released club captain Sean Dillon after more than a decade at Tannadice.
The defender played almost 350 times for United after arriving in January 2007 from Shelbourne and featured in their 2010 Scottish Cup final triumph.
The 33- year- old had a testimonial earlier this year and his final game proved to be United’s defeat by Hamilton in the Ladbrokes Premiership play-off final.
The Irish man told the club’ s You Tube channel: “You know it’s going to happenat some stagebut it’ s hard to get your head around when it actually comes to an end, so I’m pretty sad.
“You always know you can’t play at such a great club forever but I was obviously hoping that it would last a bit longer. The time I have had here has been brilliant. It’s been a great experience for me and my family. I am full of great memories, obviously some bad ones as well in more recent times.”
