Finger games ‘help boost maths skills’
Using fingers can help young children with their maths, according to new research.
A new study by experts at Sheffield Hallam University suggests that playing finger games alongside number games like dominoes boosts youngsters’ results in counting and simple arithmetic.
Researchers have also said that the findings could be useful for teachers in developing children’s understanding of numbers.
The study, involving 137 children aged six and seven, saw pupils divided into five groups.
