Acid attack accused said he was ‘only a postman’

- By WILMA RILEY

A man accused of an acid attack on a journalist was pinned down and shouted “get this guy off me I’m only a postman”, a court was told yesterday.

Alan Macintosh, 66, was giving evidence at the trial of William Burns, 56, and Alexander Porter, 48, both from Paisley.

The pair deny assaulting crime journalist Russell Findlay to the danger of his life at his home in the west end of Glasgow on December 23, 2015, by throwing sulphuric acid in his face.

They also deny attempting to murder Ross Sherlock by discharging a shotgun at him on September 24, 2015, at Dornoch Place and Ronaldsay Drive, Bishopbriggs.

Mr Macintosh, who is a neighbour of Mr Findlay, told prosecutor Richard Goddard he was lying in bed when he heard shouting. The trial continues
