ON RED ALERT: WHO ABERDEEN MIGHT TURN TO

-

Tommy Wright The St Johnstone manager since 2013, he has received plaudits for guiding the club to four successive top-six finishes and, in 2014, a first ever Scottish Cup triumph. Wright, pictured, is ambitious and made no secret of the fact he coveted the Rangers job prior to Pedro Caixinha’s appointment. Alex Neil Took Hamilton Accies into the top flight via the play-offs in 2014 as player-manager. Recruited by Norwich City in January 2015 and won promotion to the Premier League that season. Norwich went straight back down and Neil parted company with the club in March this year as their promotion bid faltered. Derek Adams Rebuilt Plymouth from scratch last summer and guided them to promotion to League One, winning the League Two title. Had two spells as a player with Aberdeen and two successful spells as a manager with Ross County sandwiched by a short time as assistant manager at Hibs. Alan Archibald Took a poorly resourced Partick Thistle side into the top six for the first time in 26 years last season. Has rejected overtures from Shrewsbury and Swindon but may not be able to resist the lure of Aberdeen’s bigger budget and European football. Owen Coyle After a brief and unsuccessful spell at Blackburn Rovers which ended in relegation to League One, Coyle is available. His CV includes stints as a manager at Falkirk, St Johnstone, Burnley, Bolton, Wigan and Houston Dynamo. Alan Stubbs Out of work since his spell at Rotherham came to a premature end in October last year. Established his managerial credentials by leading Hibs to a thrilling Scottish Cup final win over Rangers in 2016. Stubbs, left, was previously a coach at Everton. Alex Mcleish An Aberdeen legend of the all-conquering 1980s side, who has won major trophies as a manager in Scotland and England. Also had a successful stint in charge of national side and managed abroad.
