#QUEENSSPEECH

Theresa May has decided that Wednesday’s Queen’s Speech will be the last one until 2019. This means Parliament will sit for two years, rather than one, to allow more time for Brexit legislation to pass through the Houses. @Robdothutton tweeted: “TBH, I’m doubtful about the idea that not having a Queen’s Speech in June 2018 materially alters May’s chances of surviving June 2017.” @_Paulmonaghan vented his annoyance, writing: “Further erosion of democracy.” @fezbob questioned: “Imagine the fury if Corbyn cancelled a Queen’s Speech.” @Fkasimon was scathing of the plans, writing: “Cancelling the Queen’s Speech is just another way desperate Theresa May hopes to cling onto power.” But @Jack049 joked: “Good news that the Queen’s Speech won’t be late next year.”

#HEATWAVE

Some Brits struggled with the weather yesterday, with Sunday officially the hottest day of the year so far. @Clare_sim complained: “Too hot now. Unless you have a swimming pool or hot tub it’s too hot. Feet in the dogs paddling pool isn’t cutting it anymore.”@ Rosswight tweeted: “I mean this is just too hot. I’m writing to the council about this.” @L0is_xo joked: “Are you even British if you don’t say ‘it’s too hot’ about 20x a day when it’s sunny.” @connor_tighe added: “The heat abroad is so much better than the heat in England.”

#ANT

It has been reported that I’m A Celebrity and Saturday Night Takeaway co-host Ant Mcpartlin will begin a rehab program after admitting to alcohol and drug dependency. Friends and fans sent messages of support. @ourrachblogs was supportive of the TV star, writing: “It’s very brave of Ant Mcpartlin to talk openly about his addiction and depression.” @memarkharris wrote: “Thoughts go out to Ant Mcpartlin. What’s dark today will lift over the coming weeks. Acceptance is done, now action a day at a time.” @Backonside tweeted: “Sending love and support to Ant Mcpartlin. Behind some smiles people are fighting a battle that no one knows about.”
