#GEORGEOSBORNE
The former Chancellor of the Exchequer has been appointed Honorary Professor of Economics by the University of Manchester. Osborne recently took over editorship of the Evening Standard in London. His new position is the sixth job he currently has. @youngvulgarian tweeted: “If things continue at this rate, George Osborne will have taken the jobs of 22 per cent of UK citizens by 2037.” @badhedgehog said: “Time to end freedom of Osborne.” @wildcardrevenge added: “I would love to get him in my workshop, I’d break him within a day, I bet the biggest thing he’s ever lifted were probably his expenses.” @flashboy tweeted: “You go to the doctor. ‘Doctor, Doctor I keep thinking George Osborne’s taken all the jobs’. Dr Osborne swivels slowly to face you in his chair...”
#ABORTION
Current Chancellor Philip Hammond announced in the House of Commons that women in Northern Ireland who travel to England for an abortion will no longer be asked to pay. @mike_cathael tweeted: “Government agrees to fund abortions for NI women to avert Commons defeat. Does the Government intend to apply a ‘means test’ before agreeing to fund?” @Pigman58 said: “Isn’t health a devolved issue in NI? If that is the case I do not understand why the NHS budget for England is paying.” @echaingang added: “This is fudging the real equality issues. Money may solve May’s majority but it doesn’t take away fact women in NI have second class rights.”
#MENTALHEALTH
England footballer Steven Caulker has spoken to the Guardian newspaper about his struggle with depression and how Sport as a whole doesn’t deal well with mental health issues. @Bacoletplayer said: “Very powerful article – too much too young but still young enough to resume a career at top level in the right environment and with support.” @proud_kopite added: “Mental heath is not something to be taken lightly. Keep on the up and up Steven.” @curtisshaw9 tweeted: “Powerful read – just shows the battles a lot of footballers are dealing with.” @Darren_hughes said: “Hope he finds a way to manage it and that his open, honest, frankness helps someone else.”
