Wastes of money

and for them to save face as an organisation. This must never be allowed to happen again. GORDON KENNEDY Simpson Square, Perth Once again we have scenes on the television news of public sector employees marching in protest against the government’s imposed pay cap.

I wonder how many of the doctors, nurses, teachers, policemen and local authority employees all earning over £40,000 per annum took part in the march.

I would suggest that any disenheartened public sector employee gets a job in the private sector. Then they won’t need to worry about a pay increase, or a pension, or a sick pay scheme, because they won’t be involved in any of these, and any downturn in the economy could lead to receiving a P45.

We all have to pay our share of taxes, but it is important that our money is spent wisely. If we could get rid of the waste, excess, inefficiencies, and poor quality management in the public sector, then we would have sufficient money to fund our health and welfare services.

There are 129 MSPS, 32 local authorities and 14 health boards in Scotland – we could easily operate witrh half those numbers.

Some people interviewed on Tvofferedtopaymoreincome tax, well this can be achieved simply by sending a cheque to HMRC, who will receive it with open arms. Pigs and flying come to mind.
