Dream comes through

● Journey worth it for Crisford’s long distance raider

Newmarket raider Simon Crisford sent Century Dream on the 720-mile round trip to Ayr and landed the feature race of the afternoon – the £25,000 Parkdean Resorts Glasgow Fair Handicap over a mile.

The heavily backed 6-5 favourite was the trainer’s second-ever runner at the track and his representative Les Reynolds said : “The horse did it well. He’s only three years old and is improving. We were well looked after here and I’m sure we’ll back with more runners in the future.”

Another well-backed winner was Lucent Dream sent off at 7-4 favourite for the Sundrum Castle Holiday Handicap over one mile two furlongs for Irish trainer John Mcconnell and jockey Paul Hanagan.

The six year-old was almost brought down as he made his challenge entering the home straight but recovered well to win by a length and a half from Zealous.

Paul Hanagan said : “I was the meat in the sandwich out there and he did well to win after that. He’ won three from his last six starts now.”

Jim Goldie saddled Sea Of Green to win the six-furlong Wemyss Bay Holiday Park Handicap for stable apprentice Sean Mooney. The mare – sent off at 9-2 – held off the favourite Duncan Of Scotland.

One of the most impressive winners of the afternoon was Poet’s Prince who won the seven furlong Western House Novice Auction Stakes by two and a quarter lengths from Grimeford Lane in the hands of Joe Fanning for trainer Mark Johnston.

Today, Bella Alissa returns to a happy hunting ground as she contests the Hall’s Dismantling And Removal Ltd Fillies’ Handicap at Bath.

Robert Cowell’s charge was a no-nonsense winner at the track last month, making most and showing the right sort of attitude when pressed.

Clearly happy hearing her hooves rattle, she has not had much racing and should have more to offer now sent handicapping for the first time.
