Thomas so grateful for new lease of life at Killie
Dom Thomas has thanked Kilmarnock manager Lee Mcculloch for helping him rediscover the joy of football.
The 21-year-old winger quit Motherwell this summer after complaining he had not been given a fair chance by their manager Stephen Robinson.
But he has praised Mcculloch for giving him the confidence to light up Rugby Park just three appearances into his Killie career.
Thomas bagged a brace against Clyde on his home debut before setting up goals for Chris Burke and Kris Boyd on Saturday, with Lee Erwin adding a third, as his new side booked their place in the Betfred Cup’s last 16 with a 3-0 victory over Dumbarton.
The Scotland Under-21 international said: “I’m loving my time here. Most of that is to do with the gaffer and Ped [assistant manager Peter Leven].
“Since I’ve come in they have been great and filled me with confidence. They’ve told me to play with a smile on my face and that’s exactly what I want to do. It’s great to be playing for guys like that.
“The first thing the gaffer said to me was to enjoy playing. If you’re not enjoying football I don’t think there’s much point doing it. I don’t think I could have made a better start. That’s me got two goals and four assists already. We’re also through to the group stage and I’m putting in some good performances so I’m happy.”
