Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha believes a more confident Josh Windass can be an asset to his squad.

Caixinha, whose team kick off their Ladbrokes Premiership season at Motherwell on Sunday, told Rangers TV: “Josh is a nice boy and a very good player, with huge potential.

“We just need to work with him on the mental side in order for him to have more self-confidence and to believe more in himself.

“We’re looking for him to have a more regular state of play and we want more from him.

“He played more in the wide area and I think it suits him better changing the pattern of playing wide and helping inside, playing between the lines and more connections with the strikers and central midfielders.

“That is what Josh can give to us and he is doing really well and is going to help us definitely and will make sure that the team and squad is more competitive by having more options for us.” l Dundee United have taken the unusual step of declaring themselves open to offers for goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

The Scotland international and ex-rangers keeper has been linked with a return to Kilmarnock, who are managed by his former Ibrox teammate, Lee Mcculloch.

Bell began his career at Rugby Park where he made 115 league appearances between 2008 and 2013.

A statement on the Tannadice club’s official website yesterday read: “Dundee United announced on Tuesday that they would listen to offers for goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

“The 30-year-old has one year left on his contract and last season played 49 times for the Terrors, saving three penalties in one half in September 2016 at Dunfermline. He captained United as they secured the Irn-bru Cup in March 2017.” 0 Josh Windass, left, celebrates his goal at Hillsborough. Former Ross County striker Liam Boyce is expected to be sidelined for most of the league season after sustaining a serious injury during a pre-season friendly while playing for his new club, Burton Albion, against Shrewsbury Town.

The 26-year-old, who was the club’s record signing when he joined them just five weeks ago, was stretchered off during Saturday’s match and it was revealed last night that he had suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Boyce, who scored 23 goals for County last season to become the top marksman in the Ladbrokes Premiership, had pinned his hopes on featuring for Northern Ireland in next year’s World Cup finals but now faces a battle to recover in time to be consideredshouldmichael O’neill’s side qualify.
