DAY BY DAY GUIDE TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSH­IPS

Day1-today The World Championsh­ips opens with two of Britain’s best medal hopes. Sir Mo Farah bids for 10,000 metres glory at 21:20 while Laura Muir, pictured inset, runs in the 1,500m heats at 20:25. Muir’s fellow Scot Nick Percy takes part in the discus qualifying from 19:20. Usain Bolt is another big draw of day one as he begins to bring the curtain down on his incredible career. The Jamaican is due to run in the 100m heats at 20:20. Day 2 - Tomorrow Bolt runs his last global individual race in the 100m final at 21:45 – provided he qualifies from the semifinals at 19:05 – with James Dasaolu, Reece Prescod and CJ Ujah the British prospects. Before that Muir should line up in the 1500m semis at 19:35. Katarina Johnson-thompson starts the heptathlon in the 100m hurdles at 10:05, which also includes the high jump at 11:30, shot put at 19:00 and 200m at 21:00. The women’s 100m semi-finals, which could feature Desiree Henry, Daryll Neita and Asha Philip, start at 19:10. Guy Learmonth goes in the 800m heats which begin at 12:45, while Beth Potter is in action in the 10,000m final at 20:10. Day 3 - Sunday 6 August A big day for Callum Hawkins with the men’s marathon due to begin at Tower Bridge at 10:55. The women’s marathon follows at 14:00. We get our first look at Zoey Clark, Scotland’s rising star in the 400m, with the heats at 11:55. The heptathlon continues with Johnson-thompson in the long jump at 10:00. The women’s 100m final starts at 21:50 with Henry, Neita and Philip all aiming to be involved, while Johnson-thompson’s heptathlon finishes with the 800m at 20:40. The men’s 800m semis are at 21:15, with Learmonth likely to be in the mix. Day 4 - Monday 7 August The expectatio­n will be on Muir in the 1,500m final at 21:50 – as long as there have been no shocks in qualificat­ion. Team GB captain Eilidh Doyle has her first outing, with the 400m hurdles heats at 19:30. The 200m heats start at 18:30, featuring Zharnel Hughes, Nethaneel Mitchell-blake and Danny Talbot. Clark will hope to be in the women’s 400m semi-finals (20:55). Day 5 - Tuesday 8 August Dwayne Cowan, Matt Hudsonsmit­h and Martyn Rooney will be aiming to have reached the 400m final at 21:52, while Dina Asher-smith, Shannon Hylton, Bianca Williams are up in the 200m heats (19:30). Doyle is due to go in the 400m hurdles semi-final at 20:35. And there could be British interest in Guy Learmonth, Elliot Giles and Kyle Langford in the 800m final at 21:35. Day 6 - Wednesday 9 August Farah makes his return in the men’s 5,000m heats alongside Scotland’s Andrew Butchart. Hughes, Mitchellbl­ake and Talbot aim to qualify for the 200m final via the semi-finals at 20:55. Late Scottish call-ups to the

GB team Chris Bennett and Lenny Waite go in the hammer (19:20) and steeplecha­se heats (19:05). Clark will hope to be in the women’s 400m final is at 21:50. Day 7 - Thursday 10 August Muir returns in the 5,000m heats with compatriot­s Eilish Mccolgan and Steph Twell at 18:30, with Katarina Johnson-thompson and Morgan Lake in high jump qualificat­ion from 19:10. With no Bolt in the 200m, Hughes, Mitchell-blake and Talbot will be looking for a medal in the final at 21:52. Lynsey Sharp goes in the 800m heats at 19:25 and an hour later Edinburgh AC trio Chris O’hare, Josh Kerr and Jake Wightman are in the 1,500m heats. GB skipper Doyle is likely to be involved in the women’s 400m hurdles final at 21:35. Day 8 - Friday 11 August Sharp should be in the 800m semis at 19:35 while O’hare, Kerr and Wightman will hope to be in the 1,500m semis at 20:10. Tiffany Porter is in the 100m hurdles heats at 10:45, while Ashley Bryant begins his decathlon bid in the 100m at 10:00. Asher-smith, Hylton and Williams will look to have qualified for the men’s 200m final at 21:50. Day 9 - Saturday 12 August Farah will be going for gold in the 5,000m final at 20:20 alongside Butchart, before Bolt wraps his career up in the men’s 4x100m at 21:50, with the GB team, including Adam Gemili, aiming to deny him and Jamaica victory – as long as they all make it through the heats at 10:55. Johnson-thompson and Lake compete in the high jump final at 19:05 with Porter aiming to be in the 100m hurdles final an hour later. Bryant finishes the decathlon at 20:45 in the 1,500m. The day also includes the 4x400m relay heats in the morning, with Doyle and Clark vying for places in the women’s GB team. Day 10 - Sunday 13 August Muir is the big draw on the final day as she is due to race in the 5,000m with Mccolgan and Twell at 19:35. Sharp will be hoping to be in the 800m final at 20:10 and, providing they have qualified, Kerr, O’hare and Wightman go in the men’s 1500m final at 20:30. The day starts with Dom King in the 50km race walk and Tom Bosworth in the 20km walk. The 4x400m relays finish the World Championsh­ips at 20:55 for the women and 21:15 for the men.
